Introduction: Georgia - Technical Director

Hey! I’m Georgia, and I am working as technical director for our game, Platform Panic. I specialist in concept art, 2D art and 3D animation.
Even though my role in this team is as tech director, I will be contributing a bit of everything relating to art and animation. I don’t have much experience with coding, but I am willing to learn and give it a go.
I enjoy games that contain a great story through its art and music. Games like Hollow Knight and Okami are some of my favorites to play.

Introduction: Ryan - Producer

Hi! My name is Ryan, and I’m the Producer for this project, Platform Panic. My skills lie with 3D modelling and writing, however I’ve also recently been delving into the frustratingly twisted cave that is programming.
I enjoy reading, writing and gaming, which means I’m usually found tucked away inside my room trying to avoid as much sunlight as possible. Some of my favorite games would include Telltale Games’ The Walking Dead Series and the original Borderlands. Of course, I also love playing party games with my friends, like Smash Bros Ultimate and Stick Fight: The Game.

Introduction: Connor - Art Director

Heya, my name is Connor and I'm an alcoholic... er i mean the Art Director for our game! My main skill set surrounds mostly 2D concept art, splash art and illustration. I am also quite confident in 3D animation, screen production, some 3D modelling and creative writing. (although not confident I am happy to be pressured into trying out some coding.... :s)
While uni and work take up most of my time, I enjoy reading, watching movies, sleeping (god how I miss sleep), playing rugby, DnD, and of course playing video games. I love and appreciate games with unique art styles, strong story lines, amazing sound tracks and games with an overbearing amount of cutesy shit... Looking at you Pokemon. Other games I adore are: The Last of Us, Cup Head, Breath of the Wild, Journey, Smash Bros and God of War.
I am super excited to get to work on this project! :D Time to panic on these platforms <3

Introduction: Josh - Flex Role

Hi! I'm Josh, I'm sure you all know me. My role for this project is sort of the flex role. My strengths are in Photoshop and game design, I've always been a hobby Photoshop user hoping to GO PRO, this translates to me being best suited for a texturing role, though I have the dank fundamentals of 3D modeling. On the game design side I play Smash a lot, go to tourneys and shizz too so I think I can use my religious devotion for this game as a good frame of reference for game balance and level design.
I love me some video games, especially Smash Bros, though I love single player games too like God of War, Kingdom Hearts, Pokemon and indie games like Ori and Hollow Knight. I also love computers and tech!
AMPED to be working with you guys! :D

Introduction: Adam - Design Lead

Hi guys, my name is Adam. My role in this project is Lead Designer, also I will be the one running this blog, so we'll get to know each other well over the coming months. My skills are mostly in Photoshop, as well as a little bit of unity knowledge. Also having made another party game before should mean that I have an understanding of what people look for in such games, so I'm going to apply what I learned to this project.

Outside of this project, I enjoy playing games, watching anime and reading. Some of my favorite games include Pokemon, Fire Emblem, Smash Bros and Yu-Gi-Oh. What draws me to these games is often the mechanical depth of them, as I am more content playing a game that looks bad but plays well than the other way around; so in that sense I'm sort of a polar opposite to this group, which I hope will let us consider ideas we might not otherwise.

Altogether I am excited to work on this project, and I'm excited to share my insights, and those of the rest of the group here.

Platform Panic: An Introduction

Hi guys, I'm Adam and I am here to showcase the game we will be creating over the next year; Platform Panic. It is a 2D platformer party game, where up to 4 players fire magic at each other, whilst trying to stay safely on the platforms, and be the last man standing. The twist is, that magic cannot affect players, only the platforms themselves.

Our team consists of Ryan as the Producer, Adam as Design Lead, Georgia as Technical Director, Connor as Art Lead, and Josh who is working the Flex role.

I will also be running the blog here, where I will post weekly updates each weekend on the current progress of the team. Additionally, I will be interviewing the team as the year goes on, to give their own personal insights into the project, as well as to let you know a little about each of them.

This week, I will be posting an introduction for each group member, as work is still in the early stages, and I hope you hang on for more information on the project.
